This article aims to nurses practising of Family Health Strategy related to actions directed at the elderly care. It is a qualitative study, converging-assistential, which data were collected between May and June/2012 through interviews and theme workshops with 20 nurses, who work in the Family Health Strategy of a Sanitary District of Florianópolis Municipality, SC. The data analysis involved processes of apprehension, synthesis, theorization and transference, resulting two categories: care to elderly; public Healthcare policy for the elderly. The results sustain discussions about the need of connecting the nurse work and proposal of government policies to the elderly health care. It is strongly recommended permanent education to the professionals already in service, so they can deal with the challenges of population aging. DESCRIPTORS: LA PRAXIS DEL ENFERMERO DE LA ESTRATEGIA DE SALUD FAMILIAR Y LA ATENCIÓN AL ANCIANO RESUMEN:Este artículo tiene como objetivo discutir la práxis del enfermero de la Estrategia de Salud de la Familia relacionada con las acciones dirigidas a la atención a los ancianos. Se trata de una investigación cualitativa, convergente-asistencial, cuyos datos fueron recolectados entre Mayo y Junio /2012 a través de entrevistas estructurada y talleres temáticos con 20 enfermeros, que actúan en la Estrategia de Salud de la Familia de un Distrito Sanitario, del Municipio de Florianópolis-SC. El análisis de los datos involucró procesos de aprehensión, síntesis, teorización y transferencia, dando como resultado dos categorías: atención a los ancianos; políticas públicas de atención a la salud del anciano. Los resultados sustentan discusiones sobre la necesidad de aproximación entre el trabajo del enfermero y las propuestas de políticas públicas de atención a la salud del anciano. Se recomienda educación permanente para los profesionales que ya trabajan en los servicios, a fin de que puedan enfrentar los desafíos del envejecimiento de la población. DESCRIPTORES:Enfermería. Objective: to identify the medication profile, the prevalence of polypharmacy and associated factors among elderly people receiving care from Family Health Strategy teams. Method: an analytical, document-based, cross-sectional survey with a quantitative approach was conducted in Brazlândia in the Distrito Federal, Brazil, with a sample of 211 elderly people enrolled in and receiving care from one of the local Family Health Strategy teams. Data were submitted to bivariate analysis and multiple analysis through logistic regression. Results: a considerable number of the elderly (62, 29.4%) were undergoing polypharmacy. The majority (56, 26.5%) used three different classes of drug, with antihypertensive drugs the most used. Diabetes mellitus, cardiovascular complications and the use of antihypertensive drugs were factors associated with polypharmacy. Conclusion: polypharmacy is a worrying reality and demands a new approach on the part of professionals, as this important aspect of geriatrics should be carefully evaluated to avoid harm and iatrogeny among the elderly.

RESUMO Objetivo Avaliar os resultados de intervenções domiciliares de enfermagem na perspectiva da satisfação de idosos. Métodos Pesquisa avaliativa ex post, com abordagem qualitativa e caráter descritivo, realizada no período de novembro de 2015 a janeiro de 2016 com 12 idosos dependentes de cuidados, acompanhados por um projeto de extensão na cidade de Maringá/PR. A coleta de dados ocorreu, após intervenções domiciliares realizadas segundo o referencial do Projeto Terapêutico Singular, por meio de entrevistas semiestruturadas, submetidas à análise de conteúdo e posteriormente analisadas segundo o referencial teórico de Donabedian. Resultados Emergiram as seguintes categorias temáticas: “Intervenção domiciliar de enfermagem: sinônimo de alegria, distração e formação de vínculos” e ‘Intervenção domiciliar de enfermagem: transformações da saúde e dos hábitos de vida’. Conclusão Consideramos que as intervenções domiciliares de enfermagem tiveram resultados positivos que sinalizam qualidade do cuidado prestado.
