“…In Brazil, especially in the Brazilian Amazon, there are a large number of different species cohabitating between hematophagous diptera and wild vertebrates. Disequilibrium in this ecosystem is associated with factors such as deforestation, highways and dam construction (Dégallier et al, 1992, Vasconcelos, 1999, colonization and urbanization of new areas after railway construction, and improper use of the land and subsoil (Vasconcelos et al, 2001).
