Show more

“…In this experiment, a constant concentration of dietary STTD P was used in diets with varying dietary Ca. In studies that used a constant concentration of dietary Ca, increasing concentrations of STTD P increased growth performance (Ekpe et al, 2002;Saraiva et al, 2009;Viana et al, 2013;Zhai and Adeola, 2013). However, in this experiment, increasing concentrations of STTD Ca decreased growth performance, which is in agreement with results observed by 7.…”

“…Bone strength values for treatments with inorganic sources were close to those reported by Saraiva et al (2009) at the highest P level tested by those authors, and this variable increased linearly with P addition to the diet. In contrast, Viana et al (2013) evaluated different levels of available P and did not observe effect of supplementation on bone strength of the third metatarsal.…”

“…According Viana et al (2013), P mobilization of bone occurs differently under bone type, once spongy bones -ribs, vertebrae and externum -are the first affected during dietary P deficiency, while long bones such as humerus, femur, tibia, and the small bones of the extremities -e.g. metacarpals and metatarsals-are the last reserves used.…”
