ABSTRACT:The current experiment was carried out to determine the chemical composition and nutritive value of leaves of some vegetables for ruminant animals. The species significantly (P<0.001) affected the chemical composition of vegetable leaves. The dry matter (DM), crude ash (CA) crude protein (CP), neutral detergent fiber (NDF) and acid detergent fiber (ADF) of vegetables leaves varied between 8. 29 and 20.89%, 17.78 and 26.36%, 13.55 and 22.51%, 24.84 and 35.72%, and 16.18 and 25.93% respectively. The CP contents of leaves from Raphinus radicula and Raphinus sativus were significantly (P<0.001) higher than the other vegetables. The NDF content of leaves from Beta vulgaris was significantly (P<0.001) higher than the others. The ADF content of Raphinus sativus was significantly (P<0.001) higher than the others. The species significantly (P<0.001) affected the gas production, metabolisable energy and methane production although OMD of vegetable leaves was not significantly (P>0.05) affected by species. The gas production of vegetable leaves varied between 37.93 and 45.25 ml. The gas production of Daucus carota var atrorubens and Apium graveolens were significantly (P<0.001) higher than the others. The metabolisable energy ranged from 8.90 to 10.16 MJ/kg DM. The methane production (ml) varied between 6.67 ml to 11.13 ml. The methane production of Beta vulgaris was significantly (P<0.001) higher than the others. The percentage of methane production ranged from 17.60 to 25.46%. Leaves of vegetables from Daucus carota var atrorubens, Daucus carota, Raphinus radicula, Raphinus sativus, Apium graveolens and Beta vulgaris have a significant potential to provide considerable amount of energy and protein for ruminant animals. However high level of methane production potential of leaves of Beta vulgaris should be taken into consideration when included into ruminant diets.Keywords: Metabolisable energy, in vitro gas production, organic matter digestibility, vegetables leaves ÖZET: Bu çalışma bazı sebze yapraklarının kimyasal kompozisyonunu ve ruminantlar için besleme değerini belirlemek için yürütülmüştür. Sebzenin türü yaprakların kimyasal kompozisyonunu önemli (P<0.001) derecede etkilemiştir. Sebzelerin kuru madde, ham kül, ham protein, nötral deterjan fiber, asit deterjan fiber içerikleri sırasıyla %8.29 ile 20.89, %17.78 ile 26.36, %13.55 ile 22.51, %24.84 ile 35.72 ve %16.18 ile 25.93 arasında değişmiştir. Kırmızı ve beyaz turp yaprağının ham protein içeri diğer sebzelerin ham protein içeriğinden önemli derecede (P<0.001) daha yüksek bulunmuştur. Şeker pancarı yaprağının nötral deterjan fiber içeriği diğer sebzelerin nötral deterjan fiber içeriğinden önemli derecede (P<0.001) daha yüksek bulunmuştur. This paper aims to evaluate the influence of different levels of supplemental product-dehydrated cashew in the feed for crossbred Girolando cows on milk production and hemato-biochemical profile. The experiments were conducted using eight cows that were randomly distributed in a Latin square design (4×4), in which treatments consisted of four supplementation levels with product-dehydrated cashew (PDC) in animal diets, namely: 0% PDC (control diet), 1.0 kg of DCP, 1.5 kg of PDC and 2.0 kg of PDC in total dry matter . The milk and animals were weighed and the body condition of the animals were evaluated within seven days of milk collection during each experimental period. To determine the serum biochemistry and blood count of cows, three blood samples were taken in each period, at 7, 14 and 21 days before the daily supply of supplementation with samples collected from 5 ml of blood by puncturing the jugular vein. Supplementation with 2 kg of PDC reduced milk production and the levels of glucose and total plasma protein compared to the control group, due to the higher level of tannin in this group. Supplementation with PDC raised the total count of the erythrocytes, reduced the mean corpuscular volume (MCV) and non-changed number of leukocytes. Increased levels of phenolic compounds in the diet inhibited the absorption of dietary proteins, which decreased milk production. Key words: Anti-nutritional factors, intake, supplementation, tannin ResumoEste trabalho tem como objetivo avaliar a influência de diferentes níveis do pedúnculo de caju desidratado na alimentação de vacas mestiças da raça Girolando na produção de leite e perfil hematobioquímico. O experimento foi realizado com oito vacas distribuídas aleatoriamente em um quadrado latino (4 × 4), com tratamentos que consistiram de quatro níveis de suplementação com pedúnculo de caju desidratado (PCD) em dietas de animais, a saber: 0% PCD (dieta controle), 1,0 kg de PCD, 1,5 kg de PCD e 2,0 kg de PCD na matéria seca total. O leite e os animais foram pesados e a condição corporal dos animais foi avaliada durante sete dias em cada período experimental. Para determinar a bioquímica sérica e hemograma das vacas, três amostras de sangue foram colhidas em cada período, aos 7, 14 e 21 dias antes do fornecimento diário de suplementação com amostras de 5 ml de sangue coletadas por punção da veia jugular. A suplementação com 2 kg de PCD reduziu a produção de leite e os níveis de glicose e proteínas totais no plasma em relação ao grupo controle, devido ao nível mais elevado de tanino deste grupo. A suplementação com PCD aumentou a contagem total de eritrócitos, reduziu o volume corpuscular médio (VCM) e não alterou o número de leucócitos. Aumento dos níveis de compostos fenólicos na dieta inibiu a absorção de proteínas na dieta, o que diminuiu a produção de leite.

ResumoObjetivou-se avaliar a substituição do milho pela silagem de jaca sobre o consumo, coeficiente de digestibilidade aparente e desempenho em dietas para cordeiros confinados. Foram utilizados cordeiros mestiços Santa Inês, machos castrados, em delineamento inteiramente casualizado. Os níveis de substituição foram 0, 333, 666, 1000 g kg -1 na matéria seca (MS) do milho como componente do concentrado. Os consumos de MS, proteína bruta (PB) (g dia -1 ), e fibra em detergente neutro (FDN) em g kg -1 e g kg -1 peso corporal (PC), aumentaram linearmente com a substituição. Os consumos de matéria orgânica (MO), extrato etéreo (EE), carboidratos totais (CT) e carboidratos não fibrosos (CNF) diminuíram linearmente, enquanto para nutrientes digestíveis totais (NDT) apresentou comportamento quadrático com a substituição. Os coeficientes de digestibilidade aparente da MO, CT e CNF diminuíram linearmente com a substituição, enquanto o coeficiente de digestibilidade da PB e NDT apresentaram comportamento quadrático em função dos níveis de substituição. O PC final e o ganho médio diário diminuíram linearmente com a substituição do milho pela silagem de jaca. A silagem de jaca pode ser utilizada em substituição ao milho nas dietas dos cordeiros e seu uso fica dependente de fatores econômicos, da disponibilidade da fruta e do propósito de produtividade animal que se deseja alcançar.
