“…The major concern regarding nitrogen excretion in pig feces is related to the release of untreated manure into the environment, where it can be transformed into nitrates and leached into the water table (WHO, 2004). Phosphorus, when reaching water sources, promotes the growth and development of aquatic plants, increasing the competition between plants and aquatic animals for oxygen, in a process known as eutrophication (Moreira et al, 2010).
