“…Similar results were obtained in Cerrado in Minas Gerais by Knegt et al (2005) and in Mato Grosso do Sul by Ferreira et al (2010). In the present study, there was a tendency for diversity to be lower at the more disturbed sites, although diversity at site 2 was similar to that of the disturbed sites, due to the marked abundance of C. perspicillata and A. lituratus, which together accounted for 56% of the individuals captured.…”

“…Although we observed a bimodal reproductive pattern for S. lilium as it is known from lowland locations (Stoner 2001;De Knegt et al 2005), reproduction was concentrated in a shorter period in the highlands and the first (main) and the second reproduc- tive peaks were less distinct compared with the pattern registered for other neotropical leaf-nosed bats, like carolliines and glossophagines in the lowlands of rain forests, whose reproductive peaks last longer (Mello and Fernandez 2000;Zortéa 2003;Tschapka 2005). As an example, most pregnant female S. lilium at a study site in the lowlands of Costa Rica were registered in a 5-month period (Stoner 2001), whereas pregnancy was concentrated in only 2 or 3 months in our study area in the mountains.…”

“…Two G. soricina also emerged from that shelter. This nectar feeding bat has been usually found in Brazilian urban areas (Bredt and Uieda 1996;Silva et al 1996;De Knegt et al 2005;Uieda and Chaves 2005;Bredt et al 2012), where they harbor in attics and basements. On the other hand, A. caudifer is more adapted to medium and large forest fragments (Reis et al 2003), as is the case of regions surrounding the Serra do Itaberaba.…”
