Show more

“…The RF pattern of variation along the day was very similar to that observed for DBT in summer, where greater values were registered in the hottest hours of the day, differently from the RT that showed greater values at the end of the day even with mild temperatures. Similar findings were reported by Pires et al (2002) who evaluated RT of Holstein cows in free stalls with free access to a solarium and found RT values of 38.9°C at 0900 hours and 39.3°C at 2100 hours. The authors suggested that greater RT were observed at night due to animals not having enough time to recover from the high DBT observed during the afternoon.…”

“…Barbosa et al (2011) reported a seasonal effect on crossbred dairy cows that showed a conception rate of 42.55% in autumnwinter and 25% in spring-summer. Additionally, Pires et al (2002) found a significant difference on the conception rate of confined Holstein cows after conventional AI in summer and winter, which was confirmed by high variation in THI values occurring in different seasons in the region where the trial was conducted (75.8 in summer vs. 65.3 in winter).…”
