Show more

“…In comparison to other vegetables that are hydroponically cultivated, C. pteridoides also performed very well. For example, arugula (Eruca sativa) increased its fresh aerial biomass by 29.0 % in 30 days (Genuncio et al 2011), while unconventional food plants (UFPs), such as Florida spinach (Talinum triangulare), which was grown using hydroponics, increased its fresh aerial biomass by 27.0 % in 21 days (Araújo et al 2018).…”

“…hydroponic system using the nutrient solution recommended for lettuce crops (Genuncio et al, 2011;Luz et al, 2009Luz et al, , 2012Silva et al, 2011). Yet, these authors found that the optimal cultivation of leafy vegetables can be obtained with diluted nutrient solutions in relation to that recommended for lettuce.…”

“…One of the problems encountered by producers in the NFT (nutrient film technique) system is the increase in nutrient solution temperature, which reduces the amount of dissolved oxygen for plants (Bremenkamp et al, 2012). In these cases, the increase in flow rate can provide lower temperatures during the hottest hours of the day, leading to lower effect of heat exchange on plants (Genuncio et al, 2011).…”
