Retratos do Brasil: raça e instrução nos censos populacionais do século XIX

Abstract: RESUMO:O artigo tem como objetivo analisar a produção dos primeiros censos populacionais nacionais desenvolvidos no Brasil nos anos de 1872, 1890 e 1990. Busca-se apreender a construção de categorias demográfi cas na homogeneização/segmentação das diferentes populações.
