Abstract: O trabalho apresenta a expansão da educação superior privada, a partir da análise de um caso exemplar: o da Universidade Estácio de Sá (Unesa). Para tal, foram analisados dados e documentos do Conselho Federal de Educação, das associações que representam o empresariado da educação, da Unesa, além da legislação pertinente.
