“…Trees of the Rosaceae family are unusual in that they synthesise both sorbitol and sucrose in their source leaves, and both are translocated and stored (or utilized) in their fruit. The principal sugars in loquat fruit are fructose, glucose, sucrose, and sorbitol (sugar alcohol) (Shaw and Wilson 1981;Bantog et al 1999;Hasegawa et al 2010;Qin et al 2013).
