Abstract: Multiple cell membrane alterations have been reported to be the cause of various forms of hypertension. The present study focuses on the lipid portion of the membranes, characterizing the microviscosity of membranes reconstituted with lipids extracted from the aorta and mesenteric arteries of spontaneously hypertensive (SHR) and normotensive control rat strains (WKY and NWR). Membrane-incorporated phospholipid spin labels were used to monitor the bilayer structure at different depths. The packing of lipids ext… Show more

“…Як засвідчують результати інших досліджень, не менш важливу роль у роз-витку АГ відіграють зміни у складі ЖК не тільки кардіоміоцитів, а й еритроцитів та гладеньком'язових клітин судин. Одержані результати в переважній більшості мають од-накову спрямованість, відрізняючись лише за деякими окремими ЖК [16][17][18].…”

“…Phosphatidylcholines (PCs) are the most abundant lipid species in the plasma membranes of the vascular smooth muscle cells [17] and sarcolemma cardiac membranes but also other kinds of lipids play a significant role in the membrane functionality [18]. The most frequently found PCs consist of oleic, linoleic and dipalmitoyl alkyl chains.…”

“…Their dynamic and thermotropic properties have been studied using a variety of physical chemical techniques [1927] and Molecular Dynamics (MD) simulations [28]. These studies revealed also that their ARB partition coefficient in the fluid state resembles that of natural plasma membranes of the vasculature [17,18]. Briefly, the phosphatidylcholine bilayers at low temperatures occur in the lamellar gel phase (L β ) and at higher temperatures in the liquid-crystalline phase (L α ).…”
