Palinotaxonomia de Besleria L. e Napeanthus Gardn. (Beslerieae/Napeantheae - Gesneriaceae) com ênfase nas espécies ocorrentes no Estado de São Paulo

Abstract: -(Palynotaxonomy of Besleria L. and Napeanthus Gardn. (Beslerieae/Napeantheae -Gesneriaceae) specially species occurring in São Paulo State). This paper presents a study of the pollen grains of three species of Besleria L. (B. longimucronata Hoehne, B. selloana Klotzsch & Hanst., B. umbrosa Mart.) and one of Napeanthus (Napeanthus primulifolius (Raddi) Sandw.) from São Paulo state and Napeanthus reitzii (L. B. Sm.) B. L. Burtt ex Leeuwenb. occurring in southern Brazil. The pollen material was acetolysed, measu… Show more

“…Reticulate pollen grains, tricolpate or tricolporate, such as we observed here were also found in Brazilian neotropical species of other genera than studied here (Campos, 1962;Melhem & Mauro, 1973;Melhem et al, 2003;Fourny et al, 2010;Gasparino et al, 2011) and some genera of paleotropical Gesneriaceae (Luegmayr 1993a(Luegmayr , 1993bPalee et al, 2003). However, the peculiar features such as a reticulum with large lumina surrounded by a microreticulum and perforations, and also duplicolumellate muri, had not been documented for the pollen grains of species of Gesneriaceae analysed to date.…”

“…There are only a few studies on pollen morphology of species of New World Gesneriaceae, and papers dealing with Brazilian species are restricted to the studies of Campos (1962), Melhem and Mauro (1973), Melhem et al (2003), Fourny et al (2010) and Gasparino et al (2011). According to these …”

“…Gasparino et al (2010) summarized some palynological studies of Gesneriaceae, emphasizing the importance of pollen morphology for taxa circumscription. Besides the recently developed studies based on molecular characters, pollen morphology studies represent an additional tool for improving delimitation of genera and species in Gesneriaceae, as advocated by Fritze and Williams (1988) and Gasparino et al (2011).…”
