Fenologia reprodutiva, biologia floral e polinizadores de duas espécies simpátricas de Marantaceae em um fragmento de Floresta Atlântica, Nordeste do Brasil

Abstract: -(Reproductive phenology, floral biology and pollinators of two sympatric species of Marantaceae from an Atlantic forest fragment, northeastern Brazil). We analyzed the flowering, fruiting and the pollination biology of two species of Marantaceae: Ischnosiphon gracilis (Rudge) Koern. and Stromanthe porteana A. Gris. Observations were carried out in natural populations at the "Parque Estadual Dois Irmãos" (8º7'30" S and 34º52'30" W), a remnant of Atlantic forest in Pernambuco. We verified a continuous phenologi… Show more

“…Many of the bee species presented in this study as floral visitors and potential pollinators of Brazil nut are widespread in the Amazon region, and some of them also occur in other Brazilian ecosystems [23][24][25]. Some of these bee species were also reported in the literature interacting with other plant species and constitute important floral visitors or even pollinators.…”

“…Eulaema cingulata is a pollinator to Ischnosiphon gracilis (Rudge) Koern (Marantaceae) and floral visitor of Solanum stramonifolium Jacq. (Solanaceae) in a fragment of the Atlantic Forest in NE, Brazil [23,24]. Vilhena and Augusto [25] identified Ep.…”

“…Phenological patterns are inherent characteristics of species in the biotic and abiotic relations present in ecosystems (Pires et al, 2016). The annual pattern is common to many tropical species found in Atlantic Forest habitats (Newstrom et al, 1994, Leite and Machado, 2007), although Dórea (2018) pointed out the dearth of studies of herbaceous species of the forest understory.…”

“…Forest areas are scarce (Barreto and Freitas, 2007;Leite and Machado, 2007;Sigrist and Sazima, 2015;D orea, 2018). Floral and reproductive biology studies of plants of the family Commelinaceae have reported awide variety of floral morphology among the genera (Evans et al, 2003;Kaul and Koul, 2008;Aona et al, 2011Aona et al, , 2014Aona et al, , 2016Aona et al, , 2022.…”

“…There are alternative explanations for the singleseed pattern. Since style movement is irreversible, and each blossom only has a single chance of being pollinated, it is possible that some pollinators do not have pollen on their bodies during visits (Leite & Machado 2007). Consequently, the mechanism is triggered, but the stigma may not receive any pollen and the ovule cannot be fertilized.…”
