Abstract: -(Sinningia allagophylla (Gesneriaceae): in vitro cultivation of a native plant of the Brazilian cerrado). We used axillary buds as initial explants for hormone interaction studies required for in vitro cultivation of S. allagophylla. Callus production was achieved on gelled Murashige & Skoog medium (MS) supplemented with indole-3-acetic acid (IAA= 0.1 and 0.5 mg.l -1 alone or combined with 6 benzylaminopurine) (BA= 0.01 and 0.1 mg.l -1 ). A hormone balance between IAA and BA that would encourage shoot bud dev… Show more

“…The wide variation in temperature, rainfall and altitude over this wide geographic distribution illustrates that this species is a habitat generalist. Seedlings are usually clustered near parent plants in the middle of the summer rainy season (February), after which numbers decline through self‐thinning and high mortality (Almeida & Sheppherd 1999).…”

“…2007). Field germination studies have shown that S. allagophylla , S. rupicola and P. sericiflora appear to be recruitment limited in the natural setting (Almeida & Sheppherd 1999; Ranieri et al . 2007).…”

“…This concentration was likely within the optimum range for inducing the root in A. edulis. The exogenous auxins have been found to enhance the rooting in many Cerrado native species either in vitro (Almeida and Shepherd, 1999) or by cuttings (Rios et al, 2001). On the other hand, 0.1 mg.L -1 appeared to be excessive but not toxic, resulting in a slower formation of adventitious roots.…”
