Show more

“…The association of different predisposing factors may result in distinct clinical pictures (Barnes et al 2008, Abalaka et al 2017), during the period in which the birds died (summer), the southern region of Mozambique registered high temperatures, varying from 36 to 42°C (INAM 2018). Environmental factors, such as extreme heat, high humidity and poor ventilation, constitutes major challenges in poultry industry world widely, both for industrial and subsistence systems, since it increases bird's susceptibility to diseases, especially with an infectious origin, such as colibacillosis (Chansiripornchai 2009, Casagrande et al 2017. Escherichia coli is an avian commensal agent of the intestinal tract (Barnes et al 2008, Srinivasan et al 2014, Guabiraba & Schouler 2015, and, despite several predisposing factors were identified (high temperatures, prolonged fasting, poor ventilation), (Giovanardi et al 2005, Barnes et al 2008.…”

“…Colibacillosis, a disease caused by E. coli, present in the gastrointestinal tract of broilers, can cross the intestinal barrier and reach other organs, beginning an respiratory infection, and can also cause septicemia with colonization of internal organs (Casagrande et al, 2017).…”
