Quantificação de fenóis, flavonoides totais e atividades farmacológicas de geoprópolis de Plebeia aff. Flavocincta do Rio Grande do Norte

Abstract: Resumo: Esse estudo objetivou avaliar a composição química e potencial terapêutico do extrato hidroalcóolico de geoprópolis produzidas por abelhas Plebeia aff. flavocincta no semiárido do Rio Grande do Norte. Show more

“…A geopropolis of Plebeia aff. flavocincta from RN has been reported to contain high contents of phenols and flavonoids, but no detailed analysis was carried out for characterization of individual constituents [ 30 ]. The geopropolis analyzed in the present work is much distinct from a geopropolis produced by Scaptotrigona postica from Maranhão [ 16 ].…”

“…The hydroalcoholic extract from geopropolis produced by Plebeia aff. Flavocincta inhibited the growth of S. epidermidis and E. coli (Silva et al, 2016), while ethanolic extracts of propolis from Melipona quadrifasciata caused lysis of the bacterial wall and release of intracellular components of E. coli and S. aureus (Torres, et al, 2018).…”

“…Thus, it was possible to verify that HEG had an antigenotoxic or genoprotective effect since there was a reduction in the percentage of genotoxicity induced by H2O2. The literature points out the genoprotective effect of propolis due to the presence in its composition of bioactive compounds, such as phenolic compounds, Research, Society andDevelopment, v. 9, n. 11, e1259119644, 2020 (CC BY 4.0) | ISSN 2525-3409 | DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.33448/rsd-v9i11.9644 which have the capacity to block or at least reduce the action of free radicals (Silva et al, 2016). In this study, the genoprotective effect of red propolis produced by Apis mellifera in the state of Rio Grande do Norte (RN, northeast Brazil) was investigated and it was discovered that propolis promoted a significant reduction of DNA damage.…”
