Show more

“…Each location was split in either 2 (milking parlor and holding pens) or 8 (barns or pasture area) equally sized subareas, and fecal samples were collected from each subarea using cotton-tipped wooden swabs, gently introduced in fresh fecal content. In addition, 12 cows per herd were randomly selected during milking for further sampling: 6 cows had swabs collected from hind limbs and 6 from rectum, as previously described (Langoni et al, 2015).…”

“…20 Moreover, Klebsiella pneumoniae is considered one of the environmental agents causing clinical and subclinical mastitis and reduces milk quality. 21 This pathogen causes severe mastitis owing to its antibiotic resistance, rapid development of toxic shock and animal deaths. 22 Furthermore, most human infections caused by Salmonella are foodborne origin acquired through foods of animal origin like milk and meat, or via animal contact and contaminated environments.…”

“…As reported by Grohn et al [8], milk production falls and mortality increased in cows affected with Klebsiella sp. They are able to produce a significant loss in the dairy farm by reducing production; which is considered as more fatal as compared to infection caused by Escherichia coli [9].…”
