Acurácia da punção aspirativa por agulha fina e da punção por agulha grossa no diagnóstico de lesões mamárias

Abstract: although the CNB showed higher rates of sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, negative predictive value and accuracy than FNAB for palpable and non-palpable breast lumps, the method remains useful for the minimally invasive diagnosis of mammary lesions, especially when its results are analyzed together with the clinical and imaging examination.

“…Embora o diagnóstico pré-operatório desses tumores seja desejável, pois permitiria diferenciá-los de outros tumores estromais, a realização de punções, principalmente com agulha fina, é bastante discutida em diversos tumores em virtude da amostra pequena de tecido 15,16 .…”

“…Additionally, according to Frankel et al [12], the fine needle aspiration technique presents a more accessible method for physicians and patients, once their complications are rare, the handling of the procedure is simple, and it can be conducted in clinics. Due its character simplified and accessible, this technique was chosen to be simulate in the application presented in this paper.…”

“…In this context, the fine needle aspiration biopsy (FNAB) plays an important role in the evaluation of these lesions, since it is a simple, fast, cheap and reliable method to obtain material for analysis 2 . However, there is great statistical variability, since a study based on 31,340 punctures observed a sensitivity varying from 65 to 98% and a specificity ranging from 34 to 100%, although it can be explained by changes in the quantity and quality of the sample, as well as changes in the evaluation of the pathologist 3 .…”
