“…The detailed study of the anatomy of liver structures, both intra-and extra-hepatic, allowed, in recent years, the development of alternate successful techniques of liver transplantation, such as reduced liver transplant, so called "split-liver" or splitting liver and, recently, the livingdonor transplantation 9 . In the particular case of splitting the liver, an organ can originate two grafts (right lobe and left lobe), thus benefiting two receivers, a technique developed by Pilchlmayr et al 18 .…”

“…According to the literature, variations in this arterial system occur approximately between 25 and 42%. Bertevello et al and Soares et al described even rare cases of variations, including: double hepatic artery; right hepatic artery emerging from the inferior mesenteric artery; hepatic artery passing posterior to the portal vein 8,9 .…”

“…Anatomical variations of the hepatic artery are commonly found during radiological examinations and abdominal operations 1 , 8 9 It is estimated that the variation index reach 45% of the population 8 . The significant prevalence gives this type of variation major medical importance, and justifies the surgeon know it to avoid iatrogenic injury.…”
