Abstract: Recebido em 1/9/11; aceito em 6/12/11; publicado na web em 31/1/12This work describes the phytochemical study of stem bark and leaves of Cenostigma macrophyllum Tul. (Leguminosae). Through usual chromatographic techniques were isolated bergenin as the primary compound of the stem bark of and from the leaves gallic acid, methyl gallate, ellagic acid, quercetin, quercetin, agathisflavone and vitexin were obtained. The isolates were identified by spectroscopic data analysis, and bergenin showed dose-related antin… Show more

“…The abdominal writhing test has been used in many other researches to screen and assess the analgesic or anti-inflammatory properties of new substances (Alves et al, 2012). It involves different nociceptive mechanisms, such as the sympathetic system, cyclooxygenase and their metabolites and opioid mechanisms (Huo et al, 2007).…”

“…The substrate Z-Phe-Arg-7-amino-4-methylcoumarin hydrochloride was acquired from Bachem (Bubendorf, Switzerland). The fluorescence proteinase activity assay was performed using an Infinite F200PRO fluorescent plate reader spectrophotometer (TECAN, Männedorf, Switzerland). The natural compounds agathisflavone (1) (Alves et al, 2012;Correia et al, 2006;Mbing et al, 2006), tetrahydrorobustaflavone (2) (Correia et al, 2006;Kassem et al, 2004) and 3-oxo-urs-12-en-28-oic acid (3) (de Sousa et al, 2014a) were isolated in our laboratory and characterized by NMR ( 1 H and 13 C, DEPT-135, HSQC, and HMBC) and mass spectroscopy comparing to literature data. Quercetin hydrate (4) ≥97% was purchased from Sigma Aldrich (337951).…”

“…The effects of E.EtOH and F.EtOAc can be related to the analgesic compounds already isolated from the stem bark of C. macrophyllum, such as, lupeol , gallic acid, and bergenin (Alves et al, 2012).…”

“…Previous studies showed antioxidant action (Sousa et al, 2007) and antinociceptive effects of the ethanol extract from the leaves of C. macrophyllum (Carvalho, 2009). According to Alves et al (2012), the phytochemical study of the F.EtOAc obtained by partition of the methanol extract from the stem bark of C. macrophyllum revealed the presence of antinociceptive compounds, such as gallic acid and bergenin.…”
