Resumo: Plantas do gênero Piper são frequentemente utilizadas comercialmente. A espécie Piper chimonanthifolium Kunth. apresenta poucos estudos em literatura quanto a sua composição química e atividades biológicas. Óleos essenciais de outras espécies deste gênero apresentam boas atividades biológicas, principalmente contra microrganismos. Este trabalho apresenta uma comparação da composição química de óleos essenciais e hidrolatos de folhas, inflorescências e caules desta espécie. As amostras foram obtidas por co-destilação e analisadas por cromatografia com fase gasosa acoplada à espectrometria de massas (CG-EM). As amostras mostraram presença de monoterpenos e sesquiterpenos, com predominância de monoterpenos. A piperitona, um monoterpeno com atividades biológicas anteriormente relatadas na literatura, foi a substância com maior destaque. Além desta substância, destacaram-se: L-linalol, cis-β-ocimeno, trans-β-cimeno, 1-felandreno, α-pineno, limoneno e espatulenol. Algumas dessas substâncias podem exibir variação na composição de acordo com fatores ambientais e podem ser agentes de controle biológico, demonstrando importância ecológica. As análises por CG-EM evidenciaram diferenças na composição química entre folhas, inflorescências e caules, além de demonstrarem potencial biológico para esta espécie. Piper chimonanthifolium Kunth. is a species with few studies on chemistry and biological activities. Essential oils of other species of this genus show good biological activities, especially against microorganisms. This work presents a comparative analysis of chemical composition of essential oils and hydrolates of leaves, inflorescences and stems of this specie. Samples were obtained by co-distillation and analyzed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). The samples were composed of monoterpenes and sesquiterpenes, with predominance of monoterpenes. Piperitone, a monoterpene with important biological activities, was the most important substance and in addition to this compound, L-linalool, cis-β-ocimene, trans-β-ocimene, 1-phellandrene, α-pinene, limonene, and spathulenol stood out. Some of these substances can exhibit a variation in the composition according to environmental factors or may be biological control agents, demonstrating ecological importance. The chemical characterization showed chemical differences between leaves, stems and inflorescences and demonstrated biological potential for this species.

RESUMO: Este trabalho objetivou em realizar um inventário das espécies de Piperaceae de três áreas de Porto Velho, Rondônia, Brasil e realizar o estudo fitoquímico dos óleos essências de P. tuberculatum com potencial ação de controle de fitopatógenos. O material botânico foi coletado em três áreas distintas de Porto Velho, foram identificados e logo após inseridas no Herbário HFSL do Centro Universitário São Lucas. Para a extração dos óleos essenciais utilizou-se o método de hidrodestilação, onde o material vegetal foi colocado em um balão e adicionado 1,5 L de água e destilou-se um volume de 500 mL. A fração aquosa foi extraída com acetato de etila (100 mL) em um funil de separação, em seguida a fração de acetato de etila foi destilada até restar apenas o óleo essencial que foi separado e armazenado para realizar o estudo cromatográfico. Foram identificadas 17 espécies nas áreas coletadas sendo 16 do gênero Piper e uma de Peperomia. As espécies mais representativas foram P. aduncum, P. tuberculatum e P. hispidum. Os componentes químicos de P. tuberculatum foram identificados através de comparações dos índices de retenções obtidos com os índices citados na literatura. Os principais componentes encontrados foram: Alloaromadendreno, γ-Cadineno , Germacreno D-4-ol , Nerolidol e Carvona. Piperaceae apresenta um grande potencial fitoquímico que pode ser utilizado no controle de diversos fitopatógenos. Há poucos estudos sobre distribuição e taxonomia, principalmente na Amazônia, sendo necessária a realização de mais pesquisas para o conhecimento do real potencial da família. Yield of essential oil and safrole content based on fresh and dry biomass of long pepper in the Brazilian Amazon

Long pepper (Piper hispidinervum) is an Amazonian species of commercial interest due to the production of safrole. Drying long pepper biomass to extract safrole is a time consuming and costly process that can also result in the contamination of the material by microorganisms. The objective of this study was to analyze the yield of essential oil and safrole content of fresh and dried biomass of long pepper accessions maintained in the Active Germoplasm Bank of Embrapa Acre, in the state of Acre, Brazil, aiming at selecting genotypes with best performance on fresh biomass to recommend to the breeding program of the species. Yield of essential oil and safrole content were assessed in 15 long pepper accessions. The essential oil extraction was performed by hydrodistillation and analyzed by gas chromatography. A joint analysis of experiments was performed and the means of essential oil yield and safrole content for each biomass were compared by Student's t-test. There was variability in the essential oil yield and safrole content. There was no difference between the types of biomass for oil yield; however to the safrole content there was difference. Populations 9, 10, 12 and 15 had values of oil yield between 4.1 and 5.3%, and safrole content between 87.2 and 94.3%. The drying process does not interfere in oil productivity. These populations have potential for selection to the long pepper breeding program using oil extraction in the fresh biomass.
