“…In El Niño years, rainfall is more intense from October to December (PAULA et al, 2010), if sowing in the form of the conventional system of the 2015/2016 rice harvest occurred in this period (with high rainfall rates), probably a large part of the chemicals (such as thiamethoxam, applied initially to the seeds), would have been leached to the soil profile. However, the technique of chemical treatment and coating with polymers can be regarded as one of the ways of minimizing insecticide losses, since it is used in the treatment of seeds, contributes to the greater protection of seeds against pest attack soon after sowing and reduces insecticide losses by leaching.…”

“…Os valores de anomalia Paula (2010). Foram calculados também as estatísticas descritivas médias, o desvio-padrão, coeficiente de variação, valor mínimo e valor máximo, e constituídos gráficos de caixa, com mé-dia, desvio-padrão, mediana (percentil 50) e percentis 10, 25, 75 e 90 em cada evento do ENOS.…”

“…Monthly Sea Surface Temperature (SST) data set was retrieved from Climate Prediction Center of t he US Nat i on al Ocea n ic an d Atm ospheri c Administration (CPC, NOAA), from the website at www.cpc.noaa.gov/data/indices/soi. The SST values are associated to El Niño 3.4, whose coordinates are 5ºN -5ºS; 120ºW -170ºW, as this El Niño region exerts a greater influence on climatic conditions in Brazil than others (DE PAULA et al, 2010). Figure 2 shows the SST values from January 2006 to December 2010, and it is possible to identify ENSO phases throughout the period evaluated.…”

“…This ENSO's indicator can significantly influence rainfall distribution around the world (ROPELEWSKI; HALPERT, 1989;DE PAULA et al, 2010) and consequentially, rainfall erosivity as well.…”
