“…In the present study, assessment of serum anti-hydatid antibodies using ELISA resulted in positive readings during the postoperative follow-up period, limiting its usefulness for postsurgical monitoring. Similarly, different immunoglobulin isotypes were detected 3 years after surgical removal of cysts in patients showing no evidence of remaining cysts (40) (41) .…”

“…Generally, antibody titres increase upon relapse, but this does not always occur . Assays detecting specific antibody classes , and the use of several recombinant proteins (P29, 2B2t, HSP20, EgEF‐1β/δ) and change in band pattern on immunoblotting have been suggested to improve diagnostic evaluation of infection activity. Preliminary data from our group suggest that development of serodiagnostic tests for distinct use in diagnosis or follow‐up is possible , but they are still at the proof of concept stage.…”

“…In our work, anti hydatid antibodies assessment by ELISA technique detected positive readings in serum of the cases in the postoperative follow up period limiting its usefulness in postsurgical monitoring. Similarly, different immunoglobulins isotypes were detected 3 years after surgical removal of cysts in patients showing no evidences of remaining cysts [40,41].…”
