“…This behavior suggests that different levels of PA influence in the occurrence of RF and corroborates the literature which mentions higher chances of inactive individuals to present RF 6,22 and that PA practice attenuates the presence of these factors, allowing lower risk for development of CVD 8,23 . This fact deserves some concern, since studies mention that PA has been reduced in the modern society, especially in a group of elderly subjects 24 .…”

“…Educational measures are crucial in order to decrease and/or attenuate the adverse effects of the RF, which may provide reduction of the cardiovascular events as well as increase quality of life 6 . Moreover, high prevalence of RF in this population justifies its regular cardiac follow-up as prevention 19 .…”

“…This finding has also been demonstrated in another study showing an SAH prevalence of 32.7% and a positive correlation with BMI, WC and age group. [25] Age, especially older age groups, is shown to be associated with SAH, a study investigating the biological consequences of stress found significant statistical results in relation to the age of hypertensive individuals and their relationship with the quadrants, [17] while an alternative research showed no association between high strain and age. [15] Another sociodemographic variable that presented a significant statistical association was income in the low strain quadrant, in which professionals with a per capita income up to US 675 were 1.69 (95%CI: 1.01-2.84) times more likely to present SAH than those with a per capita income above this cutoff point.…”

“…Estudos de base populacional foram realizados para investigar a prevalência e os fatores associados à HAS na população brasileira, no entanto expressiva parte foi direcionada a adultos, adolescentes e crianças 5,9,12,13,14 . As pesquisas com idosos restringiram-se à região sudeste do país 5,7,15 18 .…”
