Insect societies play a crucial role in the functioning of most ecosystems and have fascinated both scientists and the lay public for centuries. Despite the long history of study, we are still far from understanding how insect societies have evolved and how social cohesion in their colonies is maintained. Here we suggest inquiline social parasites of insect societies as an under-exploited experimental tool for understanding sociality. We draw on examples from obligate inquiline (permanent) social parasites in wasps, ants and bees to illustrate how these parasites may allow us to better understand societies and learn more about the evolution and functioning of insect societies. We highlight three main features of these social parasite–host systems—namely, close phylogenetic relationships, strong selective pressures arising from coevolution and multiple independent origins—that make inquiline social parasites particularly suited for this aim; we propose a conceptual comparative framework that considers trait losses, gains and modifications in social parasite–host systems. We give examples of how this framework can reveal the more elusive secrets of sociality by focusing on two cornerstones of sociality: communication and reproductive division of labour. Together with social parasites in other taxonomic groups, such as cuckoos in birds, social parasitism has a great potential to reveal the mechanisms and evolution of complex social groups. Trata-se de um estudo com abordagem qualitativa exploratória e descritiva baseada em uma gestação diagnosticada com Hipertensão Arterial Pulmonar. O objetivo foi identificar a percepção de enfermeiras no cuidado de enfermagem dessa gestação. Realizou-se entrevistas semiestruturadas com seis enfermeiras da maternidade do Hospital de Brasília em 2016. Para análise dos dados foi escolhida a Análise de Conteúdo Temática de Bar din. Duas categorias emergiram: Conhecimento da gestação de alto risco e Organização da assistência de enfermagem a uma gestante com Hipertensão Arterial Pulmonar. Identificou-se desconhecimento sobre hipertensão arterial pulmonar na gestação, bem como a não utilização de taxonomias de diagnóstico, intervenções e resultados de enfermagem, apesar da demonstração de conhecimento acerca do processo de enfermagem.

“…A resposta diminuída dos barorreceptores do átrio esquerdo pode aumentar a liberação de arginina vasopressina resultando em retenção de fluido corporal, o que pode levar ao aumento da pressão pulmonar e da pressão atrial esquerda que a longo prazo pode acarretar em disfunção do ventrículo direito 4,11 . Dessa forma, tem-se aumento da pressão venosa pulmonar, evidenciado pela PSAP > 30 mmHg que é um dos critérios diagnóstico para hipertensão pulmonar 12 , podendo evoluir com congestão pulmonar (Figura 2) assim como o caso relatado. O estudo realizado por Khurram et al 9 revelou um achado de volume médio do átrio esquerdo de 131,1 ± 29,9 mL e rigidez do átrio esquerdo foi de 0,6 ± 0,5 mm Hg/mL após a ablação.…”

Síndrome do átrio esquerdo rígido (SAER) é uma complicação importante e incomum (1,4 a 8 %) após a ablação, está relacionada com extensa cicatriz no átrio esquerdo (AE) que pode induzir a uma diminuição na função do AE e hipertensão pulmonar. O objetivo do estudo é fornecer subsídios para o diagnóstico dessa patologia, além de revisar a literatura, atualizando os métodos diagnósticos e terapêuticos. Relata-se o caso de uma paciente do sexo feminino com história prévia de flutter atrial que foi submetida a ablação, evoluindo com SAER. Fatores de risco pré-ablação: diabetes; átrio esquerdo pequeno; apnéia obstrutiva do sono e cicatriz no AE. O diagnóstico consiste em sintomas clínicos, mensuração da pressão do AE e na determinação da pressão da artéria pulmonar. Limitações ao diagnóstico se devem aos sintomas que podem estar muito suaves em alguns pacientes, dificultando a diferenciação clínica ou a avaliação da pressão no AE pode não estar disponível. Opção terapêutica são diuréticos e Sildenafil em caso de resposta parcial aos diuréticos. Conclui-se que esse diagnóstico deve ser pensando pós-ablação e tomada a conduta correta com inicio imediato na presença de sintomas clínicos, adaptando-a ao paciente para permitir melhor prognóstico.
