Genetic diversity of dengue virus serotypes 1 and 2 in the State of Paraná, Brazil, based on a fragment of the capsid/premembrane junction region

Abstract: INTRODUCTION: The precise identification of the genetic variants of the dengue virus is important to understand its dispersion and virulence patterns and to identify the strains responsible for epidemic outbreaks. This study investigated the genetic variants of the capsid-premembrane junction region fragment in the dengue virus serotypes 1 and 2 (DENV1-2). METHODS: Samples from 11 municipalities in the State of Paraná, Brazil, were provided by the Central Laboratory of Paraná. They were isolated from t… Show more

“…DENV-2 serotypes from Manaus were grouped with the Asian/American genotype that is more virulent than the indigenous American genotype and is also the predominant genotype in Brazil [16], [31]. DENV-3 belonged to genotype III introduced from the Caribbean Islands and present in Brazil since the last 15 years [32], [33].…”

“…In addition, such protocols are employed to detect dispersal and virulence patterns related to the outbreaks, besides the geographic origin of a given lineage. The DENV capsid and pre-membrane junction encoding gene (CprM) is used to characterize the genetic variation of the virus in endemic areas of Brazil 21 .…”

“…Молекулярное типирование полученных вирусных изолятов проводят с использованием ПЦР и секвенирования [11,14,22,38,42]. Это является важной задачей для прогнозирования эпидемий и изучения географической миграции вирусных штаммов.…”
