Abstract: INTRODUÇÃO: Ancylostoma sp é um geo-helminto potencialmente zoonótico. Show more

“…However, in research, Braga et al (Braga et al 2011) demonstrated the activity of P. chlamydosporia on Strongyloides westeri L 3 (gastrointestinal nematode of horses) and D. flagrans on Ancylostoma spp. eggs (nematode of dogs and cats) (Kramer de Mello et al 2014).…”

“…In a recent study, Braga et al (Braga and Araújo 2014) reported that Duddingtonia flagrans (AC001) and Pochonia chlamydosporia (VC4) both nematophagous fungi with predatory and ovicidal activity, respectively, destroyed larvae and/or helminth eggs regardless of its source activity. With this fact, it has been reported that production of extracellular enzymes from nematophagous fungi performs different functions independently of the origin of its activity, that is, an isolated predator could destroy nematode eggs Braga et al 2009a;Braga and Araújo 2011;Braga et al 2010bBraga et al , 2011Dias et al 2012).…”

“…Ovicidal nematophagous fungi secrete extracellular enzymes that play an important role, contributing greatly *E-mail: fabioribeirobraga@hotmail.com to the reduction of infection and to the destruction of helminth eggs (type 3 effect) present in faeces and the environment (Segers et al, 1996;Braga et al, 2010b). Crude extracts of Pochonia chlamydosporia fungus have been shown to have ovicidal enzymic activity against cyathostomin eggs in horses and against Ancylostoma sp.…”

“…Accordingly, another work developed by the present group showed that the use of crude enzyme extract of nematophagous fungus on Ancylostoma caninum L 3 (a geohelminth) showed good efficacy [13]. In that work, it was observed the hydrolysis of the cuticle by enzymatic action, which also has acted inside the nematode, causing its destruction.
