Situação atual do conhecimento eco-epidemiológico sobre arbovírus patogênicos para o homem na região da Mata Atlântica do Estado de São Paulo

Abstract: The available eco-epidemiologic information on pathogenic arbovirus to humans in the Atlantic Forest region of the State of São Paulo were analysed. According to this information arbovirus transmission cycles are proposed.

“…sacchettae (BergerÐ Parker ϭ 0.37) was not positively associated with both CDC (OR ϭ 1, 2 ϭ 0.2) and MMI (OR ϭ 0.04, 2 ϭ 0.1). This species is a vector of arboviruses (Iversson 1994). “…Development of Culicidae fauna in particular benefits from the abundance of suitable breeding sites and blood sources. In this scenario, direct contact between humans and mosquitoes facilitates enzootic cycles of infectious and parasitic disease agents (Iversson 1994, Figueiredo 2007).…”

“…Subtype IF of the VEE complex (Mosso das Pedras virus [MDP]) has caused laboratory infections, but the only natural human disease occurred in a military training group in 1990 in São Paulo State, Brazil (Iversson 1993). This subtype has been isolated in the same locality from a bat (Carollia perspicillata) and from pool of mosquitoes in the subgenus Culex (Melanoconion); however, Þeld and laboratory studies must be conducted to elucidate the natural cycle of this virus (Calisher et al 1982).…”
