We analyzed articles on studies carried out by doctors using qualitative methods. A literature search of articles published on the SciELO Brazil database between 2004 and 2013 was performed using the following keywords: qualitative research, interview, focus group, participant observation, content analysis, discourse analysis, social representation, and dialectical hermeneutics. The texts were analyzed using a theoretical framework based on the qualitative research review guidelines (RATS). Articles were grouped into the following categories: consistent, not very consistent, and inconsistent. A total of 135 articles were selected from 28 journals. The majority (64.4%) were considered consistent. The main weaknesses found were: lack of information on methodological path; superficial and descriptive analysis without reference to relevant literature; conclusions that did not advance beyond common sense; decontextualized results, and lack of study limitations. We concluded that the majority of the articles had scientific validity and suggest that journals covering the health field should provide specific norms for articles produced from qualitative studies.

Body-map storytelling: research experience report with theoretical contribution of Bourdieu

Objective: To analyze the use of the body map storytelling method sustained by Bourdieu's critical theory. Method: We present the basis of the method and describe our application experience on research about bodily practices in the health promotion field. Results: The 18 participants shared their experiences starting from the design of the body and the inclusion of artistic elements. Based on the discussion of body and health it was possible to relate bodily practices to life conditions, and the social context of participants. Data suggest that the body manipulation legitimate the agents' bodies for conformation and social acceptance. The different hexis elaborate the bridge between the body and social conditions. Conclusion and implications for practice: The realization of the body map storytelling with Bourdieu's theory contribution allows the comprehension of sociological contents, essential to nursing and health research.

Resumo: Estudos sobre o processo saúde-doença-cuidados de imigrantes estabelecidos na cidade de São Paulo, Brasil, têm evidenciado uma complexa trama de relações nas demandas dos imigrantes e nas ações concebidas e planejadas pelos serviços de saúde. Nesse contexto, a intermediação dos trabalhadores da saúde na relação imigrantes-investigadores constitui importante forma de acesso dos últimos aos imigrantes sul-americanos, especialmente os bolivianos. Durante as investigações o acesso aos imigrantes ocorre dentro dos contextos das ações em saúde, facilitando aos pesquisadores o acesso às residências dos imigrantes, seus locais de trabalho ou mesmo organizações associativas. A compreensão dos processos de adoecimento dos imigrantes, dentro da complexa trama de relações entre trabalhadores institucionalizados em espaços organizacionais configurados por modelos de pensamento fundados na biomedicina, conduz-nos a problematizar sobre as possibilidades de aproximação junto aos sujeitos que compõem tal universo.
