QUADAS e STARD: avaliação da qualidade de estudos de acurácia de testes diagnósticos

Abstract: OBJECTIVE:To compare the performance of two approaches, one based on the Quality Assessment of Diagnostic Accuracy Studies (QUADAS) and another on the Standards for Reporting Studies of Diagnostic Accuracy (STARD), in evaluating the quality of studies validating the OptiMal® rapid malaria diagnostic test. METHODS:Articles validating the rapid test published until 2007 were searched in the Medline/PubMed database. This search retrieved 13 articles. A combination of 12 QUADAS criteria and three STARD criteria we… Show more

“…OR values also ranged from 0.53 to 11.67, which corresponds, according to the literature, to absent and large effect sizes, respectively 41 . Only seven studies calculated the RR 20,27,34,35,40,42,43 , whose results were RR=1.86 (overuse injuries) 22 , RR=1.49 (traumatic injuries) 22 ; and RR=-0.5 40 to 2.73 39 (any injury). Thus, a low score in FMS™ is associated with higher injury risk, although this result is limited by the number of studies that calculate the RR and the high risk of bias in two of those studies 27,34 .…”

“…This scale was developed from existing scales in the literature, such as QUADAS and STARD (19) that did not meet the needs of the study objective. The questions elaborated refer to the presence of methodological aspects of the study evaluated, containing the following questions: All these questions was answered with the answers "yes", "partially" and "no".…”

“…Several reports have been published regarding the external validation of QUADAS [21,22]. Oliveira et al [21] applied the QUADAS score alone and in combination with the STARD tool to assess a malaria test in a semiquantitative way.…”

“…Oliveira et al [21] applied the QUADAS score alone and in combination with the STARD tool to assess a malaria test in a semiquantitative way. A combination of QUADAS criteria and STARD criteria was compared (see discussion of STARD later in the article) with the QUADAS criteria alone.…”
