Show more

“…MetHb has a modified light absorption pattern that interferes with the algorithm used to calculate oxygen saturation. Patients also develop headaches, dizziness, chocolate-colored (dark brown) blood, cyanosis, and later hemolysis [8, 10, 11, 14, 22–25].…”

Patients also develop headaches, dizziness, chocolatecolored (dark brown) blood, cyanosis, and later hemolysis [8,10,11,14,[22][23][24][25]. HD patients have low concentrations of natural antioxidants and are more likely to present with complications of Cl 2 exposure than healthy patients [26].…”

“…If the water is not treated properly, potentially harmful chemical or biological contaminants may be transferred to patients. This exposure may lead to the appearance of pyrogenic reactions and sepsis (Calderaro and Heller, 2001;Varo et al, 2007). Even after undergoing some treatment, the water may still be contaminated with microorganisms depending on the efficiency of the disinfection method used.…”

“…Even had been below of the allowed CONAMA20/86 resolution (250 mg L -1 ), the averages of leached chlorine, (Table 4), some treatments presented high values, what can generate preoccupation with the accumulating effect on underground waters. High values of chlorine found in waters can have a positive effect against bacteria and virus, however, it can cause some problems in the " organoleptics" properties Brazil (1990) and public health as Freitas et al (2001); Calderaro and Heller (2001).…”
