Aspectos ecológicos da tripanossomíase americana: XX - Desenvolvimento e ciclos anuais de colônias de Panstrongylus megistus em ecótopos artificiais, no ambiente peri e extradomiciliar

Abstract

RESUMO: Em colônias de Panstrongylus megistus, espontaneamente desenvolvidas em galinheiros experimentais, pôde-se observar as condições de desenvolvimento, variação e permanência de seus componentes. Foram obtidos também dados sobre os ciclos anuais e a sobrevivência, O aspecto cíclico caracterizou-se pela maior produção de formas adultas no último trimestre do ano, ocasião que coincide com o encontro dessa espécie no ambiente domiciliar. Face a tais achados, considera-se que o período de produção de adultos representa a fase "infestante" para o ambiente domiciliar "suscetível", este representado pelas áreas tratadas, ou seja, as previamente submetidas ao expurgo. Nesse período, ocorre o risco da reinfestação e subseqüente domiciliação desse triatomíneo, a partir do ambiente extradomiciliar. Tais informações permitem sua utilização nas atividades de vigilância epidemiológica. UNITERMOS:

Occurrence of synanthropic triatomines (Hemiptera: Reduviidae) in the Federal District of Brazil

“…The increased occurrence of adult specimens of P. megistus in the domiciliary environment over the last trimester of the year was observed in other studies in different regions of Brazil 30,37,39,40 , indicating that these triatomines present a higher potential to colonize domiciles and their annexes in the rainy season. With the disorganized growth of administrative regions many domiciles are found close to these areas, and this may favor dispersal by flight and domiciliary invasion of these triatomines, stimulated by environmental changes such as reduction of food sources in the wild environment, presence of food sources in peridomicile, and/or rising temperature 23,[33][34][35][36][37][38] . In this context, urban areas surrounded by remainder forests and with marked climate change over the year (as in DF) are likely to favor the invasion of P. megistus in artificial ecotopes.…”

Occurrence of Triatoma costalimai (Hemiptera: Reduviidae) in different environments and climatic seasons: a field study in the Brazilian savanna

“…The detection of nymphs II in June does not necessarily imply reproductive events during the dry season, since T. costalimai may remain in this nymphal stage for up to 145 days. In the case of other triatomine species such as Panstrongylus megistus (Burmeister, 1834), studies in different regions of Brazil indicate that the invasion of specimens in domiciles occurs more in the wet season, especially during the last quarter of the year [19][20][21] . The increase of temperature seen in areas of the Brazilian savanna during this period 22 could stimulate the reproduction, dispersal and development of T. costalimai colonies, as already observed for other triatomine species 23,24 .…”
