Objective: To analyze the methodological aspects used for the preparation of terminology subsets of the International Classification for Nursing Practice (ICNP®), in dissertations and theses in the Brazilian nursing. Method: This is an integrative review of the Brazilian dissertations and theses defended in the period from 2007 to 2013, which were included seven dissertations. Results: The increasing production of studies on the theme by Brazilian nurses shows a concern for a unified language for the profession. However, the results demonstrate the lack of uniformity in the conduct of studies, especially in relation to the stages of content validation. The initiatives of some authors to systematize alternative methods for creating these subsets also stood out. Conclusion: We suggest the development of new terminology subsets, following standards of methodological rigor, as well as its application and validation by the selected clientele, to ensure greater reliability of results and desired changes for the profession. RESUMOObjetivo: Analisar as produções científicas acerca da história e do ensino da enfermagem brasileira referentes ao período de 1950-2004. Método: Revisão integrativa, em que a amostra final foi constituída por 18 artigos. Resultados: 22,2% dos estudos trabalham o progresso da educação em enfermagem no Brasil, ressaltando as contribuições das instituições de ensino e suas especificidades regionais em prol da valorização da identidade profissional e as modificações no ensino da graduação. 50% abordam percurso e fatores do ensino para o reconhecimento da profissão e a realização de pesquisas para a qualificação profissional. 27,8% discutem vida associativa na enfermagem, destacando a Associação Brasileira de Enfermagem (ABEn), sua revista e seus eventos científicos. Conclusão: Verificam-se modificações na formação do enfermeiro, tendo em vista a conquista de maior cientificidade no ensino, corroboradas pela ABEn e repercussão dessas modificações na configuração identitária da categoria profissional. Evaluation of the effectiveness of nursing interventions in research from Brazilian postgraduation programs

PurposeThe purpose of this study was to evaluate research from Brazilian postgraduate students who provide evidence of effectiveness for Nursing Interventions Classification (NIC).MethodsWe conducted a literature review study of thesis and dissertations available in the Brazilian Digital Library of Dissertations and Theses (D/T) in May 2021 regardless of the year they were conducted. In those studies that did not utilize the NIC in the effectiveness evaluation, the cross‐mapping methodology was employed between NIC and the interventions used by the authors of the studies.ResultsUsing a systematic process, we identified 91 studies. Twenty‐seven met a priori inclusion and exclusion criteria. We found an increase in studies that focused on nursing interventions in the last 10 years (n = 19), a large proportion of clinical trials (n = 16), and the majority of articles from the Southeast region of Brazil (n = 20). The areas of focus were adult and elderly care, and with a special interest in the behavioral domain (n = 11). Two sensitivity criteria were identified in all D/T (n = 27), and each study presented evidence of effectiveness of a minimum of three criteria simultaneously.ConclusionsBased on the effectiveness criteria, the Brazilian scientific production in postgraduate programs carried out by nurses provides evidence of the effectiveness for NIC nursing interventions.Implications for nursing practiceIt is recommended to conduct further research that uses the NIC in the planning, conduct, and evaluation of interventions, based on effectiveness criteria of nursing sensitivity.
