“…Most of the saxicolous Liolaemini lizard species occur on rock slopes, outcrops or boulders, where there are no long Fig.1. Tree topology based on a combination of morphological and mitochondrial DNA analyses from studies by Lobo (Lobo, 2001;Lobo, 2005), Lobo and Quinteros (Lobo and Quinteros, 2005), Abdala (Abdala, 2007), Lobo and colleagues (Lobo et al, 2010) and Frost and colleagues (Frost et al, 2001). Branch lengths were arbitrarily set to unit (see text).…”

“…For this purpose, we constructed a composite tree from the available topologies of Liolaemini species where the species studied here were included. Our tree is based on several morphological and molecular studies, such as those of Lobo, Quinteros, Avila, Abdala and Frost (Lobo, 2001;Lobo, 2005;Lobo and Quinteros, 2005;Avila et al, 2006;Abdala, 2007;Lobo et al, 2010; Frost et al, 2001), for the Leiosaurine, our outgroup species. We built a resulting tree topology from the combination of the abovementioned studies because a complete phylogenetic tree for all the species studied here is not available (Fig.1).…”
