“…The Hymenoptera collection of the Museu de Zoologia da Universidade de São Paulo (MZSP) originated in the early nineteenth century with specimens collected by Hermann von Lüderwaldt and Hermann von Ihering (Klingenberg & Brandão, 2005). At this time, the collection was stored at the Museu Paulista which housed a plethora of specimens and objects from different natural history branches including archeology, botany, ethnology, mineralogy and zoology (Landim, 2011).…”

Only in 1969 the Department was incorporated to the University of São Paulo, adopting the current name of Museu de Zoologia da Universidade de São Paulo (Klingenberg & Brandão, 2005).…”

Brandão (curator since 1981), his students and associates, especially from localities not represented before (Esteves et al, 2011).…”
