A mouse pulmonary hypersensitivity experimental model that mimics human asthma was developed, and electroacupuncture (EA) treatment was shown to reduce allergic inflammatory processes. In addition, we also assessed whether the beneficial effects of EA on allergic asthma could be correlated with CD4+CD25+Foxp3+ regulatory T cells (Treg). Cellular profiles and histopathologic analysis demonstrated that peribronchial and perivascular inflammatory cell infiltrates were significantly decreased in the EA-treated groups when compared to the OVA and anti-CD25 Ab-injected (Treg depletion) groups. Furthermore, total BAL cells were reduced in the EA groups when compared to other groups. Interestingly, the population of CD4+CD25+Foxp3+Tregs in pneumonocytes increased in EA-treated group when compared to OVA and Treg depletion groups. These results imply that EA stimulation at ST 36 may affect CD4+CD25+Foxp3+ Treg in an OVA-induced experimental model and may enhance Treg function by suppressing other T cells and limiting the immune response.

PurposeTo compare the effect of vitamin K2 and risedronate on trabecular bone in glucocorticoid (GC)-treated rats.Materials and MethodsForty-eight Sprague-Dawley female rats, 3 months of age, were randomized by the stratified weight method into 5 groups according to the following treatment schedule: age-matched control, GC administration, and GC administration with concomitant administration of vitamin K2, risedronate, or vitamin K2 + risedronate. GC (methylprednisolone sodium succinate, 5.0 mg/kg) and risedronate (10 µg/kg) were administered subcutaneously three and five times a week, respectively. Vitamin K2 (menatetrenone, 30 mg/kg) was administered orally three times a week. At the end of the 8-week experiment, bone histomorphometric analysis was performed on trabecular bone of the tibial proximal metaphysis.ResultsGC administration decreased trabecular bone mass compared with age-matched controls because of decreased bone formation (mineralizing surface, mineral apposition rate, and bone formation rate) and increased bone erosion. Vitamin K2 attenuated GC-induced trabecular bone loss by preventing GC-induced decrease in bone formation (mineralizing surface) and subsequently reducing GC-induced increase in bone erosion. Risedronate prevented GC-induced trabecular bone loss by preventing GC-induced increase in bone erosion although it also suppressed bone formation (mineralizing surface, mineral apposition rate, and bone formation rate). Vitamin K2 mildly attenuated suppression of bone formation (mineralizing surface) and bone erosion caused by risedronate without affecting trabecular bone mass when administered in combination.ConclusionThe present study showed differential effect of vitamin K2 and risedronate on trabecular bone in GC-treated rats.

RESUMOO estudo trata do direito do pai de concorrer em igualdade com a mãe pela guarda dos filhos, numa perspectiva social e jurídica. Embora tenha havido evolução na sociedade com significativas mudanças nos papéis desempenhados dentro da família, a mulher ainda é, presumidamente, considerada mais apta à criação dos filhos, o que impõe ao homem, que deseja ser o guardião, primeiro, provar a incapacidade da mãe para só depois demonstrar suas reais condições. Isso porque a cultura ocidental, mesmo nos dias atuais, preserva o mito materno, entendido como determinismo biológico presente em todas as mulheres. Todavia, os novos valores trazidos pela Constituição Federal de 1988 legitimam a guarda monoparental àquele genitor que, efetivamente, mais proteja os interesses das crianças e dos adolescentes, sem preferência determinada pelo gênero. Pai e mãe são iguais em direitos e deveres, cabendo ao Poder Judiciário, quando necessário impor a guarda unilateral, partir desta premissa para identificar qual dos genitores assegurará, de fato, ao menor -pessoa em desenvolvimento que requer prioridade absolutao seu melhor interesse.
