Abstract: OIL FUSEL APPLICATION ON THE SUGARCANE CHEMICAL ERADICATION AND ITS EFFECT ON SUNFLOWER SEQUENTIAL CROPThe fusel oil is the only residue of sugarcane industry that is not used in agriculture, thus the work has started involving use in agriculture, showing the herbicide potential. The study investigated the sugarcane ratoons eradication under different fusel oil concentrations, sprayed and applied under soil and the sunflower succession. The study was conducted in Ribeirão Preto region, State of São Paulo, Braz… Show more

“…The eradication of sugarcane ratoon was also studied by Azania et al (2010a) to test different concentrations of fusel oil which were pulverized and applied to the soil, as well as the development of subsequently-planted sunflowers. The rationale for performing this work was that in the reform of a sugarcane plantation, the use of fusel oil could be another option for producers, which consequently would have economic and environmental benefits because there would be less application of desiccant herbicides.…”

“…106,107 However, despite being toxic at high doses, it is noteworthy that the application of FO at a concentration of 150 m³ hectare -1 did not change the chemical attributes of the soil essential for plant development. 108 Therefore, new studies need to be carried out in order to enhance the herbicidal activity of FO, without the need to add a concentrated product, as it does not interfere with the development of future plantations and has great herbicidal potential against several weeds.…”
