BACKGROUND: The prevalence of stunting problems in toddlers in 2015 in Aceh Province has proven to be very high due to various factors ranging from a mother’s educational background to socioeconomic family. AIM: The purpose of this study was to identify models of factors that cause stunting in children aged 2–5 years in Aceh Province. METHODS: To be able to identify the problem above, this quantitative research was reported in a descriptive analytic form with a cross-sectional design that was successfully conducted from April to December 2019. The data collected were a combination of field observation review and documentation. To facilitate data analysis, univariate and bivariate and multivariate have been applied to see the validation and reliability of this research question. RESULTS: The results showed that the incidence of stunting in children included the level of education and knowledge of the mother, head of the family, number of family members, initiation of early breastfeeding, exclusive breastfeeding, age of weaning, supplementary feeding, and provision of Vitamin A (p < 0.05). The dominant factors affecting stunting were 16.7 times exclusive breastfeeding, 10.6 times because they were not given complementary feeding, 3.5 times because they did not get Vitamin A capsules, 1.7 times due to poor weaning age, and 1.5 times because the head of the family does not have a good income. Several variables did not affect the incidence of stunting, such as education of the head of the family (p = 0.482) and mother’s occupation (p = 0.992). CONCLUSION: Stunting is caused by direct and indirect factors. Models in dealing with stunting can be done by maximizing better breastfeeding.

AbstrakPestisida merupakan salah satu EDCs. Penelitian ini bertujuan menggambarkan kejadian stunting dan kematangan usia tulang pada anak usia Sekolah Dasar di Daerah Pertanian Kabupaten Brebes. Penelitian observasional tahun 2015 dengan pendekatan cross sectional. Sampel 66 siswa SD Dukuhlo 01 dan 02 berusia 8-12 tahun. Analisis statistik menggunakan uji chi-square. Kejadian stunting sebanyak 21,2% dan siswa yang mengalami keterlambatan usia tulang sebanyak 42,4%. Proporsi siswa metabolit pestisida positif lebih banyak pada yang terlibat kegiatan pertanian (29,2%) dibanding siswa yang tidak terlibat kegiatan pertanian (5,6%). Kejadian stunting lebih banyak pada siswa dengan metabolit pestisida positif (26,7%) dibanding yang negatif (19,6%). Siswa kategori terlambat usia tulangnya lebih banyak pada yang metabolit pestisida positif (46,7%) dibanding yang negatif (41,2%). Kejadian stunting lebih banyak pada siswa dengan ke terlambatan usia tulang (42,9%) dibanding siswa yang usia tulangnya termasuk kategori normal (5,3%) dan berhubungan bermakna (p=0,001).Kata kunci : stunting, usia tulang, pestisida, anak SD, daerah pertanian. AbstractPesticide is an example of EDCs source. This study aimed to describe prevalence of stunting and bone-age maturity in elementary school students in agriculture areas of Brebes Districts. This was an observational study conducted in 2015 with cross sectional approach. Study subjects consisted of 66 students of SD Dukuhlo 01 and 02, ranged from 8 to12 years old. chi-square test was used to analyzed the data. This study showed stunting prevalence among students was 21.2%. There were 42.4% students underwent delayed bone-age maturiey. Proportion of students with positive pesticide metabolites were higher in those who involved in agriculture activities (29.2%) compared to those who did not (5.6%). Stunting was more prevalent in students with positive pesticide metabolites (26.7%) compared to the negative ones (19.6%). Students with delayed bone-age maturity were more frequent to be found with positive pesticide metabolites (46.7%) compared to negative (41.2%). Proportion of students with delayed bone-age maturiry (42.9%) compared to normal (5,3%). Stunting were significantly related to delayed bone-age maturity (p=0.001).Keyword : Stunting; Bone-age; Esticide; Elementary school students; Agricultural area.

Objective: to assess the academic performance of Brazilian children by an adaptation of the Blue and Tan forms of the WRAT3 (Brazil -WRAT 3). Methods: the performance of 722 children (281 boys and 441 girls with mean age of 13.5 years, SD = 1.4) was evaluated. The data were subjected to multivariate statistical analysis to determine the relationships between performance on Spelling, Arithmetic and Reading and demographic characteristics of the children, history of grade failure, handedness, and auditory and visual dysfunction. Results: the form (Blue vs Tan) of the test had a significant effect on performance and so the data were analyzed separately for each form of the Brazil-WRAT3. It was found that sex, ethnic group, paternal and maternal occupation and history of the grade failure were significantly related to performance on Spelling, Arithmetic and Reading of both forms. Furthermore, age and handedness had significant effects on the overall performance of the subtests of the Blue form and children with auditory or visual dysfunction performed the subtests of the Tan form worse than normal children. Conclusion: it is possible that the profile of the academic performance of Brazilian public school children shown in this study is associated with more fundamental aspects of language skills and research along this direction is currently underway.
