Abstract: INTRODUÇÃOO câncer gástrico é doença que ocorre mais freqüentemente a partir da quinta década da vida e, segundo trabalho colaborativo da Fundação Oncocentro de São Paulo (FOSP) e Fundação Sistema Estadual de Análise de Dados (SEADE), verificaram-se que no Estado de São Paulo o câncer de estômago é a segunda causa de morte por neoplasia (4) .
