Show more

“…In the present study, BIA was used, which is a doubly indirect method that has been used in both scientific research and clinical practice [38] because it shows very similar results to those obtained with more sophisticated resources. An investigation that compared the validity of BIA, having the results obtained by computed tomography as a gold standard, found a sensitivity of 83.3% and a specificity of 79.1%, concluding that BIA has a satisfactory validity [39].…”

“…The bioimpedance analysis is a validated method with satisfactory sensitivity and specificity to predict VF in older population 23 . Li et al 24 , comparing neck and lower abdomen CT areas, found significant correlation between NC and VF in Chinese adult men and women, what may be accounted by the fact that neck fat was significantly correlated with VF.…”

“…All fat areas were expressed in cm². To identify the adipose tissue, density values of -50 and -250 Hounsfield units were used 15,16 .…”

“…A visceral fat volume greater than 130 cm 2 represented visceral obesity diagnosis 16,17 . However, due to a lack of individuals within the normal range, these values were divided into tertiles.…”
