“…None of the species registered in the study area had their conservation status assessed. The diversity of species found in the Meruoca massif was greater than that found in other studies in the northeastern region, such as those of the Usina de São Jose, in Pernambuco state, and the Sete Cidades National Park, in Piauí state (Alencar et al 2019), for which 12 and six species were documented, respectively. On the other hand, this diversity was similar to that of the micro-region of Cariri Paraibano (Buril et al 2013) and that of the micro-region of Alto Capibaribe, Pernambuco state (Nepomuceno et al 2016), in which 24 and 20 species were registered, respectively.…”

“…Regarding the other families, Asteraceae is the third family in species richness in Brazil and is among the richest families in the Cerrado phytogeographical domain (BFG 2015;Pereira et al 2019). Convolvulaceae, in turn, has registers in various Brazilian phytogeographic domains; however the majority of the species are found in Cerrado, Caatinga and Atlantic Forest (Alencar et al 2019). Now the Malvaceae family is the tenth one in species richness in Brazil, being the seventh richest family in the Caatinga (BFG 2015).…”
