Abstract: A construção de um sistema público de saúde pautado pela integralidade e humanização da atenção vem demandando transformações nos modos tradicionais de se fazer saúde e, consequentemente, nos processos formativos de seus trabalhadores. “…In addition to aspects common to health workers, such as: difficulty in dealing with situations of illness, death, suffering, conflicts and misunderstandings, feelings of impotence and frustration, it is observed that these feelings are aggravated by being targeted at people who, at the same time, are users of their service and their families, friends and neighbors. It is important to highlight the spaces of Permanent Education (PE) as fundamental to instrumentalize the CHA to face the day-to-day reality 12,33,34 . “…Uma Agente Comunitária de Saúde expõe o medo que sente diante de alguns moradores da região diagnosticados com transtornos mentais, e a falta do conhecimento técnico para lidar nessas situações. Zambenedetti et al (2014), através de uma experiência de formação de ACS, demonstra que o que dificultava, em parte, o trabalho deles com usuários de drogas era justamente a imagem estigmatizada que faziam dessas pessoas e a falta de empatia, que acabava distanciando os profissionais dessas pessoas, inviabilizando, portanto, o trabalho. Além disso, demonstrou que as/os ACS diziam conversar com as pessoas, porém, quando indagadas sobre como eram essas conversas, era possível observar um caráter prescritivo e moral, ao invés de uma construção de estratégias de enfrentamento em conjunto.…”
