Objective: To describe the evolution of COVID-19 cases three weeks after the start of the lockdown in the municipality of Belém, State of Pará. Methodology: Descriptive-epidemiological study, quantitative approach. The reported cases of Covid-19 were collected and analyzed in the municipality of Belém, from May 28 to June 3, 2020, that is, three weeks after the decree that regulated the lockdown. Data were extracted from the websites of the state departments and the following variables were evaluated: gender, age group, city. Results: It was identified that there were records of 92 confirmed cases and 19 deaths from coronavirus in the municipality. People aged 60 years or older were the ones who received the most confirmation of the disease and who also died the most. Women were predominant among confirmed cases and men among deaths. Conclusion: The present study consists of offering the academic environment reflections about the implementation of lockdown and how it reflects on the possible control of the increase of cases in the face of the coronavirus pandemic, based on the collection of epidemiological data of the disease, carried out in the municipality. For this, there was an increasing trend in the number of both confirmed cases and deaths. However, after the lockdown, it was possible to identify that the incidence remained in an isolation rate interval, without exponential growth, different from what was expected without the strategy. This contributes to the lower demand for care in health services and funeral homes.

The pandemic caused by SARS-CoV-2 that leads to COVID-19 has had an incalculable impact on society, services, and health professionals, including physiotherapists. The field of physiotherapy is currently facing ongoing challenges and pandemic-related repercussions, with Brazilian physiotherapists being especially affected. This article describes the current scenario in Brazil which has exposed the shortage of professionals and resources and reinforces the need for professional recognition, especially of those working in intensive care units. Barriers and challenges faced by Brazilian physiotherapists during the COVID-19 pandemic are described, followed by innovative solutions. Remote physiotherapy prior to the pandemic was merely one of many patient care options, but now has become a necessity, and several international organizations have provided guidelines for physiotherapists to follow, including guidelines on offering digital physiotherapy. Related demands, challenges, and perspectives of physiotherapy practice are likely to emerge amid the current uncertainties of the COVID-19 crisis, as well as during the post-pandemic period. The lessons learned by the Brazilian physiotherapy community may be of assistance to physiotherapists in other countries particularly those with comparable social and demographic characteristics.

RESUMO: Objetivo: Analisar a relação entre o potencial de propagação do SARS-CoV-2 e as tomadas de decisão do governo municipal de Florianópolis, Brasil, quanto ao distanciamento social. Métodos: Foram analisados casos novos de COVID-19 com tratamento de nowcasting identificados em residentes de Florianópolis entre 1º de fevereiro e 14 de julho de 2020. Também foram examinados os decretos relacionados à COVID-19 publicados no Diário Oficial do Município entre 1º de fevereiro e 14 de julho de 2020. Com base nas ações dispostas nos decretos, analisou-se se elas promoviam o relaxamento, o aumento ou a manutenção das restrições vigentes, criando-se o Índice de Distanciamento Social. Para o período de 14 dias anteriores a cada decreto, calcularam-se os números de reprodução dependente do tempo (Rt). Construiu-se uma matriz entre a classificação de cada decreto e os valores de Rt, verificando-se a consonância ou a dissonância entre o potencial de disseminação do SARS-CoV-2 e as ações dos decretos. Resultados: Foram analisados 5.374 casos de COVID-19 e 26 decretos. Nove decretos aumentaram as medidas de distanciamento social, nove as mantiveram e oito as flexibilizaram. Das 26 ações, nove eram consonantes e 17 dissonantes com a tendência indicada pelos Rt. Dissonâncias foram observadas com todos os decretos que mantiveram as medidas de distanciamento e os que as flexibilizaram. No segundo bimestre da análise houve a mais rápida expansão do número de casos novos e a maior quantidade de dissonâncias dos decretos. Conclusão: Observou-se importante divergência entre as medidas de distanciamento social com indicadores epidemiológicos no momento da decisão política.
