Abstract: The present study is to investigate the influence of weight percentage of silicon carbide (SiC) (5,10 %, 15%) and particle size (10,20,40µm) of SiC and constant 2% of Molybdenum disulphide(MoS 2 ) is reinforced with aluminium matrix. Wear performance of the composite was carried out through pin-on-disc method to calculate friction coefficient and wear resistance of the composites. The experiments were conducted by varying the sliding speed of (1.5,2.5 &3.5 m/s), loads (30,50&70N) with sliding distance ranges f… Show more

“…It was also suggested that the tool wear rate of the taper profile tool is less as compared to other profiles [86]. The FSP can be carried out in N 2 atmosphere to form an ultra-fine nitride layer on the matrix surface to improve hardness and wear resistance properties [87,88]. In-situ Al1050/Fe 3 O 4 nanocomposites surface composite exhibited 65% higher wear resistance properties than Al 1050 [40].…”

“…However, the addition of hard reinforcement decreases the machinability of the base alloy. To overcome this issue, soft materials such as graphite, MoS 2 and BN are used as secondary reinforcement to develop aluminium metal matrix composites (AMMC) with multiple reinforcements (hybrid composites) [ 7 , 8 , 9 ]. The addition of multiple reinforcements will improve the various properties of the base aluminium alloy [ 7 ].…”
