Objective: to identify the prevalence of neglect and psychological abuse of older adults and their associations with the characteristics of the victim, the aggressor and the type of aggression in Espírito Santo, Brazil. Method: a cross-sectional study, with data on reports of neglect and psychological abuse of older adults registered in the Espírito Santo Reports of Disease and Harm Information System between 2011-2018. Analyzes were conducted according to the type of abuse and the independent variables were composed of the characteristics of the victim, the aggressor and the type of aggression. For multivariate analysis, Poisson Regression with robust variance was used. Results: during the study period, 296 cases of neglect (18,1%; CI95%: 16,31-20,04) and 193 cases of psychological abuse (11,8%; CI95%: 10,32-13,46) were reported. Neglect was more prevalent against older adults aged 80 years and over, who were black, had a partner, and were disabled, and was often committed by the victim’s son(s) or daughter(s), in their home, in urban areas, in an unmotivated and chronic manner. Psychological abuse was associated with women, perpetrated by men, after alcohol consumption, motivated by intolerance, in the urban area and carried out in a chronic manner. Conclusion: the characteristics of the victim, aggressor and aggression were associated with the occurrence of negligence and psychological abuse differently for each type of abuse. Such abuse is often committed in a veiled manner, and thus goes underreported. It is believed that with the diffusion of knowledge and the carrying out of new studies will contribute to the confrontation, monitoring and prevention of this disease.

Resumo-Este artigo dialoga com a questão da Complementação Pedagógica de professores de educação básica na modalidade de ensino fundamental e médio, cuja formação inicial é o Bacharelado. Escolhemos, para isso, uma escola de ensino fundamental e médio da rede estadual do Espírito Santo. O objetivo geral da pesquisa é verificar a importância da Complementação Pedagógica para a referida escola. Apresentaremos dados quantitativos referentes ao número de professores que lecionam na instituição e os que têm sua formação inicial em bacharelado. Acreditamos a formação inicial ser sumamente importante para o profissional exercer função, sendo que isso não limita o crescimento necessário ao exercício profissional como docente. Concluímos que sem o curso de Complementação Pedagógica, a qualificação dos profissionais da escola estaria comprometida, visto que em seus quadros, a maioria tem formação inicial em Bacharelado. Ressaltamos que não é somente a primeira formação acadêmica que forma um professor, mas também sua Formação Continuada.

Introduction: Violence against the elderly person can be any act, single or repetitive, or omission, that causes harm or discomfort and reduces the quality of life of the elderly. Objective:To identify the demographic characteristics of elderly victims of violence, notified by the Notification of Injury Information System (SINAN) in the municipality of Porto Nacional -TO in the year 2014, to characterize the most reported forms of violence, the place of occurrence, the means of aggression and the relationship with the victim.Method: This is an epidemiological, descriptive and exploratory study with a quantitative approach. The survey was conducted through reports issued by SINAN in Porto Nacional. The study population consisted of 130 reports of violence. Data collection took place in April. The data were released with the help of Excel tables and analyzed through BioEstat 5.0. Result:It was possible to identify that the majority of the elderly were males, with a mean age of 78.3 years, of brown color, who had schooling, married/stable union, retired and had no physical or mental disabilities.
