Analysis of the Potential of Solar‐Assisted Heat Pumps: Technical, Market, and Social Acceptance Aspects

Solar‐assisted heat pumps have the potential to increase the share of renewables in the energy systems for several cases, or to increase the flexibility of smart grids and integrated thermal‐electric grids. The development of such systems requires a comprehensive approach in which technical, market, and social acceptance are all tackled at the same time. Such a holistic approach is the main objective of the present review article. To do so, an investigation is performed by categorizing the integration approaches reported in the literature, exploiting the solar source either as a low‐temperature evaporator source or as supporting the condenser during heating operation. Furthermore, hybrid integration schematics and dual‐source approaches are discussed. Market and social aspects complete the analysis, with the aim of finally identifying the current status; the main drivers and challenges are also addressed. The reported results confirm that the exploitation of solar thermal energy can increase the achievable performance of heat pumps in a broad range of climates. A favorable regulatory/financial framework and informative campaigns for businesspersons and the wide public have been identified as the main solutions to maximize the deployment of the technology in the coming years.

Vietnam has pledged to reduce methane emissions by 30%, increase renewable energy utilization, and decrease coal-based electrical power, with a goal of achieving net-zero carbon dioxide emissions by 2050. Among renewable energy sources, solar energy has gained attention due to Vietnam's favorable location near the equator. This study aims to evaluate the economic feasibility of solar energy generation in Vietnamese households, focusing on the north, middle, and south regions. Using the Ecotect software, the study assesses the potential for solar energy production, while also examining the country's solar power policy for electricity production. Through this analysis, the research aims to identify any weaknesses in the current policy and recommend possible solutions to maximize the economic benefits of solar energy development. The findings of this study are expected to provide insights into the economic feasibility of solar energy generation in Vietnamese households, as well as inform policymakers about the shortcomings of the current solar power policy. Ultimately, this research aims to support Vietnam's transition towards a sustainable and prosperous future, in line with the country's long-term goals for reducing carbon emissions and increasing the utilization of renewable energy.

Foi desenvolvido e montado em laboratório, um protótipo de secador com bomba de calor de pequena capacidade, para secagem de produtos termossensíveis, com sistema de refrigeração acoplado a uma câmara com isolamento térmico, fixados em uma única estrutura. Foram testadas duas opções de montagem do sistema de troca de calor no interior da câmara de secagem. Na primeira opção (configuração 1), trabalhou-se numa configuração com um único trocador de calor, o qual alternava a função de evaporador e condensador, em ciclos de resfriamento e aquecimento, através do emprego de uma válvula de quatro vias. Na segunda opção (configuração 2), trabalhou-se numa configuração com dois trocadores de calor, onde o ar passava primeiramente pelo evaporador e, depois, pelo condensador. As configurações foram avaliadas segundo as condições psicrométricas de operação: temperatura, umidade relativa e umidade de equilíbrio do ar. A configuração 2 mostrou-se mais efetiva quanto ao condicionamento do ar de secagem, com condições psicrométricas mais favoráveis, resultando em menores valores médios de umidade de equilíbrio.
