A new genus of Holothyrina: Neothyridae (Arachnida, Anactinotrichida) from the Manaus area, Amazonas state, Brazil

Abstract

-A new genus of Neothyridae, type species Diplothyrus schubarti sp. n., is Amazonas, Brazil. The two pairs of lateral excretory orifices instead of a single one in the type genus Neothyrus of the family Neothyridae, are diagnostic. A protonymph of Neothyrus ana Lehtinen, 1981, is also described as the first known nymphal stage of this family.

While they clearly establish differentiation within Holothyrida, none of these characteristics are shared exclusively with Ixodida.…”

Tibia with approximately 70 setae; 5 av and 1 al setae spinose with blunt tips and dense, fine barbs (the av setae make up the "palpal comb"); 5-6 other ventral (v) setae strong, smooth, pointed spines.…”

A new species of Diplothyrus (Parasitiformes: Neothyridae) from Brazil

Acording with Lehtinen (1999) the Thon's organ is composed by two pairs of excretory glands furnished with a protruding membranous funnel.…”
