Tabelas De Volume Para a Floresta De Terra Firme Da Estação Experimental De Silvicultura Tropical

Show more

“…After logs were extracted, the diameter at breast height (DBH) was obtained by averaging two measurements from the tree's cross-section (widest and narrowest diameters, as done when using tree calipers). Volume was estimated using an equation developed for the same area [Volume (m³) = a•DBH b •Ht c ; where, a = 3.29; b = 2.16; c = 4.20] (Fernandes et al 1983). We chose an equation that uses total height and DBH as VOL.…”

“…The Smalian formula, based on the conventional measurements of diameter or circumference, has been applied to obtain volumes used as reference values in developing and validating models (Ribeiro, 1996, p. 23;Moura, 1994, p. 29;Higuchi and Ramm, 1985, p. 35;Fernandes et al, 1983, p. 539). Naturally, the errors will be smaller in the models in which the dependent variable was obtained using only species with boles that were more regular and free of defects, as assumed by Fernandes et al (1983). Such models are appropriate for commercial wood species, but not for estimating the total volume per unit area in a community.…”

“…The stock of commercial species, considering only 37 species included in the comparisons for seed tree retention, was 12.8 trees (CI = AE1.3) corresponding to a mean volume per hectare of 59.4 m 3 ha À1 (CI = AE7.9). Tree volumes were estimated using a regional volume equation (Fernandes et al, 1983). There was variation across blocks for volume of trees DBH !…”
