“…An interesting detail is that the individual flowers of morph B have a longer lifespan than those of morph A, because they have a functionless phase during the night. Kubitzki (1982) and Kubitzki & Kurz (1984) later found this kind of heterodichogamy in several other Lauraceae and assumed that it is probably widespread in those Lauraceae with bisexual flowers. As early as 1910, Wester mentioned that in Annona squamosa (Annonaceae) certain trees constantly shed pollen in the morning, others in the afternoon (Wester 1910).…”

“…Its architecture in natural forest is described as tall with a small or narrow crown [41][42][43]. However, in the homogeneous plantations of Maués, as well as in the enrichment lines at Novo Aripuanã, tree architectures were variable enough that such a classification was not possible.…”

“…Several species are known from few collections and have a narrow distribution. Other species have a wide distribution according to Kubitzki (1982); for instance, A. guianensis Aubl. and A. hostmanniana (Nees) Mez have been frequently collected and range from the Guianas to eastern Peru.…”

Allen he accepted two; of the six species described by Kostermans he accepted three; and of the four species described by O. C. Schmidt he accepted one.…”
